EABL Green Team Plants On
14th April 2007: EABL Green team members comprising employees of the five EABL subsidiaries have planted over 40,000 trees in water catchments in Kenya and Uganda.
The team whose plan is to hit the 100,000 trees mark by the end of the financial year added to their tally by planting over 3,000 trees at the Nadakaini Dam in Thika on Friday 11th of April.
The team joined members of the Ndakaini community, staff of Nairobi Water Company to plant the seedlings around this important water source for Nairobi.
Team Coordinator Hellen Guya said, “We hope to reach our goal before end of June and we are taking advantage of this rainy season to ensure we plant as many trees as possible.”
EABL Green team formed 2 years ago has already planted trees in Karura and Ngong Forests, Ruraka, Mau areas in Kenya and Mpigi and Namanve in Uganda.
The team works with various environment groups to ensure water catchments have enough forest covers to ensure sustainability of this important commodity.
