E-Green Team in Kampala has had a busy season with intensive tree planting. The recent event saw the team together with members of the ZIDA Community (a local community based organization) take part in planting over 1200 indigenous tree seedlings in the Lwamunda Central Forest Reserve in Mpigi.
The event was also graced by the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and the Environment in Buganda Kingdom, Owekitibwa Edward Luttaya Mukomazi and the Buganda Minister for Royal Visits, Kabuuza Mukasa.
Speaking after officiating the tree planting, the Mr. Mukomazi thanked the EABL Foundation for their active involvement in tree planting. He pledged Buganda’s support for conservation of forests while at the same time encouraging everyone in Buganda to take active role in tree planting. He requested further dialogue between NFA and the Kingdom over the conservation of forests in Buganda and the creation of a direct link between the Authority and the Kingdom.
UBL’s Sales Director Soji Oladimeji thanked the entourage from the Buganda Kingdom, community members and the EGT from their active participation in tree planting saying it was one of the best ways of conserving the environment. He appealed to other organizations to join hands in maintaining the forest cover.
The E-Green team has so far planted over 2500 tree seedlings. The team’s activities are part of the company’s commitment to ensuring sustainable environment in the region.
