“ EABL is an East African company and we wanted this to be reflected in our education focus. We have been tremendously pleased with the Guinness Scholarship Programme that was launched in 2001 at Strathmore University” Mr Mahinda added.

All scholarship students are offered internship opportunities in EABL where get on the job training in various departments within the company.

“The students are nurtured while they are in school because we want to give them a chance to maximize their learning process. It is not enough for us to pay for their fees. We integrate them to the business world and make them part of EABL way of life.”

“The ten original Guinness scholars graduated last year are now employed or completing further studies – this is a great indication of the success of the project.  We thank Strathmore University for facilitating and supporting the Guinness Scholars. We now want to spread this success across East Africa.”

Mr Mahinda said that EABL will keep looking for students who showed a potential for greatness but did not have the financial resources to study for a tertiary degree.

“EABL believes in empowering people and we would like to give bright but very needy students the opportunity to study in courses that are paving the way for business in the 21st century”.
