Medical Camp at Meru G.K Prisons

1,500 inmates at the Meru G.K Prisons received medical attention at a medical camp organized by EABL Foundation in conjunction with the Independent Medico-legal unit and Meru Lions Club.

The camp was aimed at boosting efforts by the Prisons Department to cater for inmates in prisons around the country. The medical camp conducted by a team of 60 doctors saw the prisoners as well as the members of community with a range of ailments receive treatment.

The Meru Medical Camp was a follow-up to a previous camp conducted by East African Breweries in conjunction with IMLU at the Nairobi West Prisons which had seen over 300 inmates and 300 members of the community received treatment for a range of ailments as well as HIV/AIDS counseling sessions.

At the Nairobi West Prisons medical camp, the Foundation donated a total of 173 mattresses and 250 blankets towards the Prisons department under its health initiative programme. Last year, the company spent a total of Kshs. 4 million in a hospital beds project that saw 16 public hospitals receive beds and beddings from all the 8 provinces across Kenya.

Hospital Beds for Kenya Project

Health is a critical area for every society. EABL designed a project with the Ministry of Health to help improve the bed capacity of smaller district and provincial hospitals across the country.

The East African Breweries Hospital Beds for Kenya project distributed 250 beds and bedding across Kenya. The project's aim was to help ease overcrowding and bed sharing in many smaller local hospitals.
