255 Million Investment in Waste Water Treatment Plant
East African Breweries has constructed a wastewater treatment plant in its Ruaraka brewing plant.
The Kshs 255 million-wastewater treatment plant replaced the company's existing treatment site and is the first of its kind in Kenya.
The new plant will reduce effluent by the brewery to National Environmental Management Authority standards.
The new plant ensures that EABL complies not only on local effluent treatment standards but also at an international environmental level. The new treatment site will produces water that is 97% pure, which can be recycled and used for irrigation.
By upgrading and investing in the state of the art effluent treatment plant KBL is ensuring the future preservation of our river systems and hopefully its actions will be an example to other companies.
EABL has spent more than Kshs 600 million shillings in constructing three wastewater treatment plants.
Uganda Breweries recently invested Kshs 200 million in a similar site and Kenya Maltings, another subsidiary of EABL, will invest Kshs 80 million in a wastewater treatment plant for its malting opera
